The community is invited to the cello recital of С»ÆÊé senior Aaron Galloway. The free recital will be held on Saturday, November 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. A public reception will follow.

The recital features pieces from Baroque to contemporary styles that demonstrate a broad range of what the cello is capable of. The recital begins with an unaccompanied suite for cello by Bach, which is a staple in the repertoire. A short elegy by Jacques Offenbach shows the operatic and lyrical quality of the cello, and a few pieces by Aaron Minsky venture into contemporary, popular styles. The final two works are by Ludwig van Beethoven: a duet for viola and cello, and a sonata for cello and piano. Both are exciting works that include a lot of fun interplay between the instruments.

Galloway, of Pella, Iowa, is majoring in Biology and Music. He has studied cello with Marian Casey since 2020 and presented a junior cello recital in 2022. He has been the principal cellist of the С»ÆÊé Chamber Orchestra for three years and is the recipient of the Marvin & Esther Van Donselaar Music Scholarship and the National Federation of Music Clubs Student/Collegiate Composition Award.

Galloway will be accompanied by С»ÆÊé senior Anders Kolbrek of Maple Grove, Minnesota, and will be joined for a cello/viola duet by С»ÆÊé sophomore Adam Galloway of Pella, Iowa.
