The ���� Music Department is hosting an organ recital by senior Rachel Wordes on Friday, November 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. The recital is free, and a public reception will follow.

Louis Vierne’s fast and exciting “Carillon No. 21” will open the recital, followed by a more subdued “Passacaglia” by Buxtehude. The recital will also feature a Bach “Praeludium” and will conclude with all four movements of Boëllmann’s “Suite Gothique,” ending with the iconic “Toccata.”

Wordes, of Renville, Minnesota, is majoring in Elementary Education. She has studied organ with Dr. Carrie Groenewold since 2019, and in 2018-19 she studied with Mrs. MaryLou Wielenga. Wordes serves as an instrumental and vocal accompanist in the ���� Music Department and has led hymn sings at Dordt for the past three years. She was the recipient of the Joe J. Dahm Memorial Music Scholarship in Keyboard in 2018-19; the Roossien Organ Scholarship in 2019-20; the John and Reona Reinsma Organ Scholarship in 2020-21; and the Ringerwole Organ Scholarship, and the Klanderman Family Organ Scholarship in 2021-22.
