Recital repertoire includes La flûte de Pan by Jules Mouquet; Doppler’s Duettino Hongrois, a duet featuring С»ÆÊé senior Allie Strong of Mitchell, South Dakota; and the solo piccolo piece Concerto in Do Maggiore by Vivaldi. Vande Zande will be accompanied by С»ÆÊé senior Karli Vreugdenhil of Orange City, Iowa.
Vande Zande, of Hamilton, Michigan, is majoring in Elementary Education with a Music Endorsement. She has studied flute with adjunct instructor Stephanie Kocher since 2020, and she plays flute and piccolo in the С»ÆÊé Wind Symphony.

On Thursday, October 12, 97 high school students from 14 high schools competed in the С»ÆÊé Math Challenge. Students tested their mathematical creativity with novel problems on two exams. They also engaged in breakout sessions and mathematical games that were led by Dordt mathematics and statistics professors with assistance from 13 undergraduate science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) majors.
